I haven't seen this reported anywhere, but Jon Cooksey is no longer involved with the Revival project or Rainmaker. Apparently they had differing visions for the future of the property, and Rainmaker decided to go in another direction. I have no idea who the new writer or writer(s) might be. Thought you guys would want to know.
Mixed feelings for me. I didn't know Jon from a hole in the wall and the "Rugrats" thing didn't encourage me, but a deeper dive into his lexicon gave reasons for optimism. In order for this new project to work - to bridge the gap between loyalists and a broader audience, and between the differing demographics any animated feature has to please to succeed - a writer like Jon who understands how to write both for kids and adults seemed like a very good fit.
If it's true, I'm quite glad. Not that I hate Jon, never really seen his writing (Except Rugrats but I don't know which episodes), but... you all know why!
Let's get Reboot back right. Gavin, Ian, Phil, Dan, all the voice actors and animators should get to do season 5!

My source is fully authoritative - it's definite. I'm surprised Whizzywig or someone hasn't reported it over at the blog yet.
Well, especially given G-B's responses on the Gertz Q&A I wondered if this news might mean some involvement with Gavin and even Ian was imminent. I don't know the answer to that, but it seems a feasible guess anyway.
I don't want to say who my source is, just in case they'd rather not have it known. Anyone who knows me from way back (and in this fandom I do mean way back, ) will tell you that I don't make things up just to wind people up. It's a fact and it'll become public knowledge soon enough anyway...

I hope so! I'm sure Rainmaker is aware of how much the fans want the original creators to be on this.
I don't know how to react. He did seem quite admanant about trying to keep to the original flavour of the show, and if he's diverging from what Rainmaker want, either he is diverging from what makes ReBoot ReBoot, or Rainmaker doesn't think that his ideas will make enough money. I hope this means that they are bringing back the original crew, but it could just end up being a costly delay as they search for another writer, who may be worse.
I'm quite saddened to hear this. Jon seems to have the ability to write for both audiences and from his previous mail is a fan. My personal belief is that he may have been writing "old school" which I personally would have been overjoyed about. But that isn't the direction Rainmaker wanted as Paul Gertz needs both the loyal followers AND a new audience to make this work as a successful property. (IMHO)
But this is just speculation on my part. I very much think this revival project is still go and I wouldn't take bets on the name "Gavin Blair" not appearing in a press release shortly.
You take the blue icon and the game ends. You exit in Mainframe and you believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red icon and you stay in the Gamecube, and I show you how deep the 'net goes...
It was a creative difference over the direction the movies were going to take. In the final analysis, Gertz has to be the guy who made the call - it's pretty clear he's running things on a day-to-day basis over at Rainmaker, at least where ReBoot is concerned.

You think so? If I'm reading that bold statement correct...
